Naps go for the double and WIN 2-1

NEWLY CROWNED Intercol champions Naparima College will go after a coveted national double today when they face El Dorado Senior Comprehensive in the BWIA Secondary Schools Football League "Big 4" final replay at Skinner Park from 4 pm.The southerners are coming off a 1-0 victory over Princes Town SC in Saturday's Royal Bank Intercol final and are gunning to cop their second prize but cannot afford to drop gears against an "El Do" side desperate for some silverware following their season of hardwork.

A season of just over two months of school football ends today and the two teams involved will be anxious to put on a good showing in the climax. The Blue Thunder came away easy winners in the East/ Central Zone before shutting out St Anthony's College 2-0 in the semi-finals. They then went on to hold "Naps" to a 2-2 draw in an enthralling final at the Queen's Park Oval earlier this month before bad light prevented a decider from penalty kicks. Strikers Abede Fernandez and Kwame Wiltshire have numerous problems for opposing defences in the past and midfielder Brenton Stewart and Kirt Hutchings will be just as eager to inflict defeat on the Intercol Kings.

The South Zone champions have won 19 matches out of a 20-game unbeaten streak. Skipper Leon Brown will again aim to control the midfield with hope that Atiba McKnight, the goalscorer in Saturday's final, Kurt Borel and Jason Hector make use of their scoring chances. Stopper Jacey Peters and goalkeeper Aquellius Sylvester will want to continue their solid work from previous matches.

Today The Park may not be filled with as much fans as Saturday's Intercol final, but the southerners are expected to turn out in numbers to back their team to the double success while an "El Do" posse will be keen to see their outfit finish the season on a high note.
